Staughton Lynd

December 01, 2007, 02:51:00 pm Last Edit: December 01, 2007, 03:33:24 pm by Staughton Lynd

What follows is the first installment of a new edition of Labor Law for the Rank and Filer, first published by Singlejack Books in 1978, with a revised edition in 1982.

The co-authors of this new edition are Staughton Lynd, author of the original booklet, and Daniel Gross, a member of the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) who is working at Starbucks in New York City.

Please understand that this material, and the chapters that will follow, are in draft.  Citations still need to be double-checked.  The entire manuscript will be reviewed by a labor law professor before publication.

For the time being, therefore, please do not rely on this material in court or before the National Labor Relations Board (unless you have double-checked the citations for yourself).  The purpose of circulating draft chapters in this way, at this time, is to solicit your responses to the ideas contained in these materials.

As a worker with shopfloor experience you will have encountered many times the ideas discussed herein.  Do you have specific suggestions or criticisms?  What areas of vital importance to you do not seem to be covered in the Table of Contents?

Please post your comments here to this thread or directly to Staughton Lynd at <salynd@aol.com>.
   In solidarity,
                                               Staughton Lynd
